1 Day for the K.I.A. Alumni
As our organization has continued to grow and expand, we also want to remember those who have been a critical asset and played a prominent role in the success of 1 Day for the K.I.A.
DUCK YIM -
Duck Yim is the active co-founder of 1DK and previously served as the founding president/commander. In addition to establishing 1DK & The Living Legacy Scholarship, Yim was an Architecture student and Air Force ROTC Cadet during his time at The Ohio State University. Desiring to contribute in other ways, Yim has served central Ohio as an Emergency Medical Technician and our nation’s forests as a Wildland Firefighter. Running wise, he has qualified for the Boston Marathon and three times accomplished distances over 100 miles in the 24 Hour Endurance Run format, including a 102.61 mile finish at the 2015 1DK Run. He is currently a U.S. Air Force Officer in the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) Program at Sheppard Air Force Base, TX and continues his 1DK involvement as a Board Member.
A native resident of Custar, Ohio, Kyle graduated from The Ohio State University as an Aeronautical Engineer and commissioned into the Air Force as a Pilot. In his time with 1DK, Kyle was fortunate to have been given the opportunity of planning and directing the inaugural 24 Hour Endurance Run hosted by 1DK in 2014. Since then, Kyle has served as an adviser for future race coordinators, helping maintain continuity in race format. Furthermore, Kyle was selected as one of the first five sponsored runners of the inaugural venue held in 2014.
From Upper Arlington, graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Political Science and commissioned as an Active Duty Armor Officer in the Army. His hope is to become a JAG and a Federal Attorney after his time in the Army.
Upon graduating from Ohio State as an Electrical Engineer, Michael commissioned into the Air Force as a Developmental Engineer at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA.
Jessica Sunkamaneevongse served as the 1DK Auxiliary Group Commander and Public Affairs Commander for the 2014 and 2015 school year, respectively. During Jessica's time at The Ohio State University, she was a Japanese major and Air Force ROTC Cadet as well as members of various student organizations. Jessica commissioned into the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant in the spring of 2015 and was selected as a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations.
A graduate of The Ohio State University and head chef during her time at 1DK, Mackenzie Crumpacker is currently living with her husband in San Antonio, Texas. Since her husband is a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force, the 1DK cause remains near to Mackenzie’s heart, and she plans to participate in every run 1DK hosts, whether in person or virtually. Mackenzie is currently substitute teaching in a local San Antonio school district, and is pursuing a teaching certificate, planning to teach high school history. She hopes one day to be able to don her chef’s hat once more by volunteering at future 1DK races.
